![]() ![]() 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?ĥ But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. PrayerĢYou, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. The psalmist prays, ‘Restore us again… Will you not revive us again’ (vv.4,6). When you turn back to God he restores and revives you through his ‘unfailing love’ (v.7). God forgives: ‘You lifted the cloud of guilt from your people, you put their sins far out of sight… you cooled your hot, righteous anger’ (vv.2–3, MSG). ![]() But the psalmist knows that this righteous anger is not contrary to God’s unfailing love, and in this psalm we see both side by side. There is such a thing as righteous anger (v.5). ![]() He cries out to God, ‘help us make a fresh start’ (v.6, MSG). ![]() Like so many of us, the psalmist wants an opportunity to make a fresh start in life. Will you prolong your anger through all generations?Īnd grant us your salvation. A psalm.Ģ You forgave the iniquity of your people ![]()
